Submitted by Brett Mandel, Greater Philadelphia League President

The GPMABL crowned repeat champions in both divisions in 2018 with the Muckdogs winning the GPMABL Commissioner’s Cup and the Colts claiming the Classic Chalice.

In the Junior Circuit, the Muckdogs swept the Royals in the best-of-three Championship Series behind the strong pitching of league Cy Young award winner Kyle Werman and the strong play of Kyle Landreth. The crown was the first for rookie skipper Jamey Cooper who led his squad to a Penn Division pennant and the team’s third championship in four years.

In the Senior Circuit, Ian Downes led his Colts past the Bears in the winner-take-all championship game. The Colts won 5-4 powered by Chuck Lovell and Kevin Downes to secure their three-peat championship under the lights for the 35 and older crew.
