2026 DC Mustangs Capture 58+ Title in DCMSBL with Win Over Defending Champion White Sox

The 58 Mustangs finally aged enough to win the extremely competitive local DCMSBL 58+ league championship. This age group has had a different league champion each of the last few years. The 2026 championship did not come easily, as the Mustangs had to defeat the reigning 2025 league champion White Sox, who had only lost one game all year. That one loss was to the Mustangs.

Chris Dunn pitched a gem, shutting down the powerful White Sox batters. Every Mustang at the game got into the game to make it a team win. From the end of the season through the playoffs, the Mustangs won five straight games. Had they lost any one of those games, they would have been out of the playoffs.

Besides Chris Dunn, Ken Prohoniak, Kai Schjang, Jim Whitlinger, and Tim Higgins did most of the pitching to lead the team to a victorious season. Joe Walsh, Dave Raskin, and Scott Miner handled the catching spot.

Dan Cassidy anchored the infield defense at shortstop, with several players filling the rest of the infield spots. Sean Cohan, Mike Hanna, Polo Castro, Dan Mitchell, and Bill Steele patrolled the outfield all summer. And Billy Cornwell, Jose Carrera, and Terrance White filled in the lineup as DHs.

All in all, it was a really fun year, and the senior Mustangs look to get back on the field again in 2027!
