‘Pirates Sweep Reds for League Title’

Lakeland High School, Shrub Oak, New York, October 13, 2024 – At Lakeland High School last Sunday, the Pirates hit in the clutch and added good pitching as they swept the Reds 6-4 and 4-1 to earn the Westchester-Putnam Men’s Senior Baseball League Championship division title.

Pirate Lou Vernagallo played an outstanding shortstop and was a force offensively.  The bottom of the lineup came through with clutch hits to put the Pirates ahead late in both games.

The Reds played good defense and pitched well, but just didn’t hit enough and made too many mistakes, particularly on the bases, which were costly.  Congrats to the Reds on a fine season, and congrats to the champion Pirates!
