Team USA 13, White Sox 10 (Game two in best-of-three championship series sweep)
Submitted by Bryce Kirsch, manager
Team USA pulled through in one of the toughest seasons yet, with only 12 men on the roster we worked hard together to stay healthy and hydrated and always having each other’s backs and playing out of position when needed. Every team played well this year and made it a very difficult path to get to playoffs.
I want to acknowledge our catcher Jack DeLeuw (our only catcher this season) for starting every game and going above and beyond to help the team pull through, keeping moral up and being a true team player. Also to acknowledge our whole pitching staff for stepping up when needed and being able to get the job done.
To defeat the White Sox is a major accomplishment for us and we have much respect for all of them. The championship game was a double-header. The first game was very important for us to win so we played a tough battle and ended up winning the first game 7-1 in nine innings.
The second game was a back-and-forth battle. Even being down 10-9 in the top of the ninth inning, our team never gave up and we battled back to score four runs in the top half of the inning. Being able to score those runs, we were able to hold them in the bottom of the ninth, winning with a final score of 13-10.
As you can see, we had our work cut out for us and that our team never gives up no matter how the game is going for us. We want to thank league president Bob Donaldson for everything they do for us and supplying us with anything and everything we need and also keeping everything safe for the coaches, umpires, and players throughout the year. “
