2024 Patriots Sweep Brew Crew for First 21+ Mick Myers Annapolis Division Championship in Chesapeake MSBL
Chesapeake MSBL, 21+ Mick Myers Annapolis Division
Patriots 19, Brew Crew 4 (Game two in best-of-three championship series sweep)
Submitted by Kevin Bidinger, Patriots’ manager
The Patriots completed a great season by winning the 2024 21+ Mick Myers Annapolis Division Championship of the Chesapeake MSBL. Earning the #1 seed in the playoffs, the Patriots had a first-round bye. In the second round they faced the #5 seed Orioles, led by two dominating pitching performances by Matt Binder in game one, and Bryce Bidinger in game two. The Patriots outscored them with a total combined score of 23-1, to complete a two-game sweep.
In the championship series, the Patriots faced the hard hitting #4 seed, the Brew Crew. The first game was a hard-fought battle with the Patriots coming out on top with a 12-9 victory. The Patriots finished them off in the second game with a dominating performance, a 19-4 victory, once again completing the series with a two-game sweep.
Even though both series were total team victories with great contributions from every player, DJ Biscoe’s batting was stellar and stood out from all the rest; going 10 for 11 with eight runs scored and eight RBI.
The Patriots had an outstanding regular season with a record of 18-2. They had a league leading 155 runs scored. The pitching and defense did great, giving up a league low of only 55 runs. The team has been in the Chesapeake MSBL for four years and has always had successful seasons, going deep into the playoffs, but never winning a championship.
In 2024 they added three very talented players and welcomed back two players of the same caliber. The season started out with two of the Patriots main pitchers injured. Dustin Gosnell headed the staff until their return and had a dominant season with an .833 ERA for the regular season. He also added a .424 season batting average. He had an MVP caliber season.
It took a total team effort to have the type of season that the Patriots had. They were a family on the field who really enjoyed the game of baseball and their time together. Every player was a major contributor to the 2024 championship run.
