2014 Pilots Repeat in 55+ at Rock League (Milwaukee)

The Pilots repeated as 55+ playoff champions in the Rock League, which includes Milwaukee area teams and is based in Franklin, Wis. It was their fourth title in five years.
In the championship game, John Arnold pitched a complete game and had four hits in a 14-4 victory over the Green Sox, a spirited first-year team that fought through adversity all season. The Pilots’ 20-hit attack included four by Al Alt, who knocked in five runs and contributed a key two-run triple. Frank McCann drove in four runs, and Gary Schultz added three hits.
Arnold and Schultz, both caught by Bob Friday, combined for a 1.00 ERA in 27 playoff innings, and the Pilots played excellent defense with the infield of Alt at third, Bob Warns at short, Mike Derrick at second andTerry Teske and Schultz at first and the outfield of Bill Wood, John Becker, Ace Vollmer and McCann.
Alt finished the three playoff games 8 for 11 with seven RBI and four runs scored.
