2023 Sea Dogs Upend Braves for 40+ Title in Rhode Island MSBL

Sea Dogs 8, Somerset Braves 3 (Game three in best of three championship series)

The Rhode Island MSBL 40 division saw the defending, and regular season champion, Somerset Braves take on the Sea Dogs in a best-of-three series. Game one was not much of a contest as the Braves jumped out to an early lead behind Josh Blais’ two home runs and never looked back, taking the game one contest 14-4.

Game two saw Sea Dogs pitcher Jared Tinkham go nine innings in a wild 14-13 Sea Dogs win, evening up the series at one game each. Game three saw Sea Dogs pitcher Chris Zervas shut down the Braves and capture the championship for the Sea Dogs, 8-3. Offensively, the Sea Dogs standouts were Jay Lee, Rob Reyes, Shawn Rogers, and Jeff Gaccione. The Braves offensive standouts were Josh Blais, Mike Sipala, and Nick Balch.
