Milwaukee Rangers 15, Green Sox 1 (Game two in best of three series sweep)
The 55 Rangers of the Milwaukee-Rock League finished the 2022 season with a perfect record of 18-0. The Rangers finished the regular season with a 15-0 record beating every team in the eight-team division twice and winning the crossover game versus the 55 Lugnuts by a score of 9-2. Tom Klawitter pitched six innings of shutout baseball giving up four hits and striking out five. Marv Oliver, Mark Holzman, and Matt SanFelippo each had two hits.
The Rangers beat the Brewers in the playoff semifinal by a score of 10-1. Once again, Tom Klawitter shined on the mound, pitching eight innings allowing six hits, and striking out seven. Offensively the Rangers were led by Mickey Pruefer with three hits.
The Rangers won the first two games of the championship two-out-of-three format. In game one the Rangers beat the Green Sox by a score of 12-2. Tom Klawitter was the starting and winning pitcher going six innings, allowing two runs on nine hits while striking out five. Offensively, Jack Barron, Matt SanFelippo, Mickey Pruefer, and Paul Melotik each collected two hits.
In game two, the Rangers won 15-1. John Arnold was the starting and winning pitcher, going seven innings allowing no runs, three hits, and striking out seven hitters. Offensively, Jack Barron, Mark Holzman, Mike Drilling, Jerry Gambatese, Matt Fredrick, Terry Teske, Paul Melotik, and Pete Jaske all had multiple hits. This was the third championship in a row for the 55 Rangers.
Overall, since the Milwaukee MSBL began in 1994, Terry Teske and John Arnold are the only original Rangers left and have both won 18 Milwaukee MSBL championships in the 28, 35, 45, and 55 age Divisions. Both Terry and John are in the Milwaukee MSBL Hall of Fame.
