2016 Westchester Royals Post Exceptional Season in West-Put 28+ Division

Submitted by Nick Boniello, Westchester Royals manager
The Westchester Royals team was created four years ago from a collection of ball players who hadn’t played at an organized level for at minimum 15 years. Highlighted by five neighbors from Somers NY, the DeMartino and Boniello families put together a
championship caliber club wrought with improbability. Led by aces Steve Frum and Ralph Boniello, the Royals were able to take home the title in their maiden season. Over the years a number of former high school and college baseball players would join the team leading them to a second consecutive title. 2016 produced a very successful season once again, though falling to the Mohegan Braves in the championship match-up.
The composition of the team is very interesting. Our players focus more on friendship and bonding then the actual goal of winning. The winning component is a byproduct of playing loose and enjoying the opportunity to succeed when surrounded by those who truly support you.
