‘August Throws Amazing 156 Pitches in Loss to Rangers’
Submitted by Jeff Walsh, Lugnuts manager
The juggernaut 2021 55+ Milwaukee Rangers repeated at champions of the Rock MSBL by taking the first two of a three-game series by scores of 10-2 and 8-2 over the Milwaukee Lugnuts.
Ranger Tom Klawitter (former Minnesota Twin) pitched a complete game and shut down the Lugnuts lumber on six hits to win the first game. The Rangers bashed 13 hits and squeezed out nine walks to earn ten runs. Matt Sanfelippo led the Rangers with three hits, two ribbies, and two runs scored. Mike Dalton took the loss for the Lugnuts.
For a follow up in game two, veteran John Arnold took the hill the next night against former Milwaukee Brewer Don August. ‘Augie’ held the Rangers to two unearned runs on five hits over nine innings. After 134 pitches he ran out of gas and yielded six runs in the top of the tenth. Augie finished with 156 pitches for the day! The Lugnuts couldn’t recover against Ranger reliever Matt Sanfelippo and the Rangers repeated as The Rock 55+ MSBL Champions. Matt also drove in the winning runs with a single in the Rangers’ 10th
Congratulations to Rangers manager Mickey Pruefer and all the Rangers!
