2021 Williston Armadillos Top Chelsea Bat Company for Vermont Senior Baseball League Crown

Vermont Senior Baseball League

Williston Armadillos 14, Chelsea Bat Company 5

Submitted by Reid Crosby, Armadillo’s manager

After not having a season in 2020 due to the pandemic, the Vermont Senior Baseball League returned to action this summer.  The season had a slightly abbreviated schedule, starting in late May, about a month later than usual, to allow for more players to be vaccinated before the start of the season.

Despite the shorter season, it was a very successful and competitive year for the league, with 65 of 66 games being played despite severe weather conditions in late July and early August.  Of those games played, 36 were decided by three runs or less.

The league Championship game, twice postponed due to weather and field conditions, matched the top two teams from the regular season with regular-season champion Chelsea Bat Company hosting the Williston Armadillos on October 10th at Roberts Gould Field in Chelsea.

A back-and-forth game early, the score was tied at five through six innings before the Armadillos broke the game open with seven runs in the seventh inning, eventually winning 14-5.
