2019 Naturals Top Improved Legends to Capture 35+ Crown in Kansas City MSBL

Kansas City MSBL, 35+ Division

Naturals 10, Legends 4

Our Championship was not what we were expecting. We were looking to get some closure as to who was the better team between us and the Padres, since they were the only team to beat us this year three times and they took the title from us last year.  However, that wasn’t the case we ended the season playing the Legends for the championship and came out undefeated through the playoffs winning the championship 10-4.

Our pitching duo of Brett Parsons and Jeff Stewart were solid, followed up by a good but not great defense.  We were able to capitalize off some walks by following up with eight hits in key situations, four of them being doubles.

I have to say that the Legends really stepped up their level of play this year with a couple added bats and a solid new pitcher, Jace Champlin.  We were always pumped to see him throwing against us because he has good stuff and we knew there was always a chance he could beat us.

I was also lucky enough to be part of the Missouri Stars team that recently won the 35+ championship at the MSBL Fall Classic in West Palm Beach. One of my fellow league guys from the KC Padres, Jason Carrillo, contributed by throwing a gem in our fifth game.  He threw 7 2/3 innings and only gave up four hits to a very strong offensive team from Venezuela.  Jason pitched and played outfield while I played first base and outfield.  Ultimately, we came out with the Central Division championship with a 4-3 final record.
