The 2025 Seadogs stepped up once again to claim their 11th straight RIMSBL 30+ Championship to close out a 17-8 record (including playoffs) and scoring an astounding 229 runs while only giving up 79 runs. Strong pitching, elite offense, and overall team culture drove the team to another successful year.
The team was led by dominant pitching in the playoffs by Zach Kirby, Myles Levy, Bob Barton, and Andrew Smiley. The Seadogs started their semifinal round by defeating the Padres twice in a best-of-three series. The Seadogs were led by two dominant pitching performances by Zach Kirby in the series, where he claimed two wins.
In game one, the Seadogs defeated the Padres 9-0 behind the strong pitching of Kirby and strong offense. Kirby threw a complete game shutout. He allowed three hits while striking out 13 Padres batters.
The offense also stepped up to deliver nine runs behind the bats of Yoshi Ferreira (2-3 with a HR and 2 BBs), Jake Ferreira (1-2 with 3 BBs), Jay Martin (2-5), Jon Valois (2-4 with 1 BB), and Shawn Rogers (2-3 with 1 BB). In game two, the Padres defeated the Seadogs 5-4 in a pitcher’s duel between Andrew Smiley (9 innings with 14 K’s) and Skyler Neal (9 innings and 5 K’s).
In game three, the Seadogs bounced back with a 5-2 win behind the pitching of Zach Kirby. Kirby pitched seven innings, giving up three hits and striking out 14. Myles Levy then closed the door with two scoreless innings.
The offense was led once again by Jake Ferreira (2-4 with 1 BB), Jay Martin (2-3 with 2 BBs, and Shawn Rogers (2-4).
In the finals, the Seadogs matched up with the Darlington Bulls. Kirby and Smiley continued to shine with the help of their defense and key timely hitting.
In game one, the Seadogs prevailed with a 6-5 comeback win. The offense was led by Jon Valois (3-5 with 2 runs scored), Tom Koch (2-5 with 1 run scored), Yoshi Ferreira (1-3 with 2 runs scored), and Rob Reyes (3-3).
They found themselves down by two in the eighth, where they scratched one across in the eighth and then had some 2-out magic in the top of the ninth, where they collected three consecutive hits that yielded two runs and the lead.
The bats woke up with a 2-out single by Valois, which was followed by an RBI double by Koch and finally an RBI single by Jay Martin to put the Seadogs ahead. Levy then closed the door in the ninth to secure the game one victory.
In game two of the finals, the Seadogs prevailed 10-2. It was the Andrew Smiley show. Smiley dominated through seven innings. He allowed only four hits and struck out 16 batters. He also had three hits at the plate to help push the offense.
Bob Barton and Myles threw shutout eighth and ninth innings to close out the series. The offense was led by Jake Ferreira (2-4 with 3 runs scored), Tom Koch (1-2 with 3 runs scored), Jay Martin (2-5 with 3 runs scored), and Yoshi Ferreira (2-4).
