Sea Dogs 12, Colt 45s 1 (Game two in best-of-three championship series sweep)

After tough series wins against the Rhody Breakers and Astros, the Sea Dogs squared off against the upstart Colt 45s in the 2025 RIMSBL 40+ Championship. After taking down the mighty Braves in the semi-finals, the Colts were looking to kill another giant in the finals.
Game one saw the Dogs take a 1-0 lead in the first that they would never relinquish. Two more in the second, two more in the fourth, two in the fifth, and three in the sixth gave the Dogs the 10 runs they would need to close the game after just seven innings.
The offense relied on timely hitting and patience at the plate. No Sea Dog hitter had more than a single, but that was augmented by seven walks and three hit batsmen.
The real standout in this game was pitcher Christos Zervas, who proved to be far too much for the potent Colt 45 offense. Zervas was lights out in this matchup, surrendering only five hits and two walks over seven innings.
Thanks to some scheduling quirks and bad weather, the Colt 45s had to face Zervas in Game two as well, like it was 1906. “Big Z” certainly didn’t forget how to pitch during the layoff. Even though an error cost him a run, he gave up only four hits and one walk in this matchup.
Offense was once again spread up and down the lineup, with all of the usual suspects combining in a great team win, again in seven innings.
It was another great season for the Sea Dogs, capped off by their third straight Championship.
