2025 OC Dodgers Win Championship Series Over Angels for 50+ Title in So Cal MSBL
So Cal MSBL, 50+ Division
OC Dodgers 12, So Cal Angels 2 (Game three in best-of-three Championship series)

Submitted by Jef Brown, Dodgers’ manager
Over the years, the OC Dodgers have won seven league championships, and this year’s team was one of the best I’ve ever had the privilege of managing. This was one of the best seasons we have had, going 14-4 during the regular season.
This set up a rematch with the So Cal Angels, last year’s 50+ Champion. The Angels, always a tough competitor, jumped out to a 1-game lead, winning the first game of a best 2 of 3 series, 10-9.
We regrouped and won the second game 8-4, leading to a decisive third game.
With the championship on the line, the Dodgers jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the first inning, with a triple from Jon Duran, which set the tone for this game. The Dodgers added four runs in the fourth inning, and two more in the fifth, taking an 8-1 lead.
We continued to play solid defense behind the excellent pitching of Allen Zentgraf, who only allowed one run through the fifth.
In the sixth inning, the Dodgers turned to their middle reliever, Duane Welty, who pitched three shutout innings, keeping the Angels at bay. We then turned it over to our closer, and MVP on the season, Al Baca, to close the game. Al did not disappoint as he came out dealing, shutting down the powerful Angels’ offense, as the Dodgers won the Championship going away, with a 12-2 victory!
This was a real team effort, as we had several players, Doug Thigpen, Al Baca, Jon Duran, Garrett Dwyer, Mike Liang, Ralph Cedillo, and others with multiple hits, RBI’s, and stolen bases.
Everyone contributed offensively and defensively, and I’m so proud of the way this team came together this year. We have a phenomenal group of leaders and men who played as a team all season long, and the work they put in paid off. We dedicated this game to a long-time OC Dodger, Kevin King, who could not be with us due to health issues. Kevin has been the heart and soul of the OC Dodgers for over 20 years, and he has made significant contributions to our success.
