Los Cubs won the 2025 Michiana Adult Baseball League championship thanks to a historic pitching season by Steven Wisser, good defense, and timely hitting.
Los Cubs had a great regular season, finishing 9-1 and earning the first seed. The team is full of family and friends, who also happen to be tremendous athletes and awesome baseball players. There are multiple sets of brothers on the team: father-and-son, cousins, brothers-in-law, and uncles and nephews. The veterans on the club have been playing together for going on 30 years. The season combined wisdom and experiences with youth and skill, so no deficit or issue would keep them down.
In the semi-final contest, Los Cubs needed to come back from a 6-1 deficit against a hungry Lake Michigan Coastal Tide team to set up a matchup with a great Niles Knights team that had been averaging over eight runs per game. This would be another game won by pitching, solid defense, and timely hitting. Steven Wisser took the mound and pitched another gem, winning 4-1.
Including the playoffs, Steven pitched 67 innings, striking out 73, with a 2.19 ERA. Danilo Regaldo pitched 11 innings, posting a 1.27 ERA. Domi Perez, Chilo Galindo, Luis Navarro, and Geronimo Navarro led the team in putouts.
Offensively, the Los Cubs were very balanced, averaging 7.5 runs per game with a .375 AVG. Luis Masias led the team with a .559 AVG (1.348 OPS), followed by Orlando Martinez at .394 AVG (1.136 OPS), with Chilo Galindo stealing 12 bases.
The team fought hard to get their second MABL title (last in 2022) and made sure to have fun along the way!
