2025 Appleton Foxes Make it Six in a Row in 18+ Division of Northeast Wisconsin MSBL

NE Wisconsin MSBL 18+

Appleton Foxes 11, Los Pinoleros of Suamico, Wisconsin 1

‘Foxes Achieve Amazing Six Titles in a Row’

The Appleton Foxes completed their sixth 18+ Northeast Wisconsin MSBL championship in a row against one of the two newcomers to the league, Los Piñoleros of Suamico, Wisconsin.

The first weekend of the championship series featured a split, with Los Piñoleros winning a no-hitter against the champs. So, it all came down to an all-the-marbles game on the second weekend.

Most of Suamico showed up to support Los Piñoleros, while a small collection of wives and fathers-in-law politely clapped for the Foxes at their home field. Pre-game was electric, featuring a flyover of gulls from the nearby landfill and dueling reggaeton speakers from the visitor side.

The Foxes got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run from John Hendrick. Hendrick finished the year with three home runs. The Foxes put up two in the second from an RBI single from Logan Andrew. The Foxes got three in the third, with hits from Chris Erm, Charlie Plamann, Trent Whitcomb, and Kevin Kangas. The Foxes started eyeing up the beer coolers.

The coolers would have to wait, though, as Los Pineleros answered back in the eighth when Yeyner scored their lone run.

The league’s all-time wins leader, and Foxes manager, and league President, Benny Paton, earned the win by chucking five innings of scoreless ball. Paton went undefeated for at least the fifth year in a row. (Our record-keeping is more by feel.)

He was relieved by the youngest Foxes player, Brennan Chynowith. ‘Chynnie’ pitched four innings, giving up one run.

The Foxes are made up of a core of players in their 40s who grew up playing ball together on sandlots, Little League, high school, and semi-pro ball, as well as players that they’ve coached as young men. Their wives are mostly over this baseball thing, but they’ll probably come around!
