‘Salty Dogs Notch 14th Consecutive Championship’
Game One: Mike King pitched a complete game scattering six hits. The Salty Dogs had 16 hits with Mike Lunardelli, Scott Partington, Norm Dumont, Gary Raymond, Mike Souza, and Tony Lizotte each having two hits. Allen McLeod led the Colt 45s with two hits, scored two runs, and stole two bases. The Salty Dogs won 11-3.
Game Two: Trailing 11-8 in the top of the ninth, the Salty Dogs scored five runs to take the lead and held off a two-out Colt 45’s rally in the bottom of the ninth for the 13-12 win.
Ramon Nunez led off the ninth with a single followed by consecutive hits by Mike King, Sean Duprey, and Ed Colvin. Scott Partington hit a double to knock in two runs to tie the game. Gary Raymond hit a single for the go-ahead run, and a sacrifice fly by Mike Souza knocked in Scott Partington for the two-run lead.
After two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Paul Torti for the Colt 45s singled and was knocked in by a double by Fred Mitchell. With the tying run on second, Ed Colvin retired the final batter for the win.
The Colt 45s were led by Jay Lee’s three hits, which included two doubles and a triple. Gil Costa and Steve Lallo also had three hits each for the Colt 45s.
Mike King and Sean Duprey led the Salty Dogs with three hits apiece.
