‘Rangers Make it Five in a Row with 17-0, 2024 Season’

While winning five straight 55+ championships over the last five seasons, the Rangers have accumulated an 88-3 record, including owning a 69-game winning streak at present.

In this 2024 season the Rangers beat the fourth seeded Rays in the semi-final game by the score of 12-5.  The winning pitcher was Tom Klawitter, former Minnesota Twin. Tom pitched seven innings, allowing 0 runs on six hits, and struck out seven.

Offensively, the Rangers leading hitter for the season, third baseman Mark Holzman, was 2 for 3 with a home run and a double, five RBI, two runs scored, and a walk. The Rangers second leading hitter, second baseman Matt Sanfelippo, went 3 for 4 with three runs and two RBI. Catcher Jack Barron was 2 for 3 with three runs and an HBP. Right fielder Jose Alba was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI.

In the 2 out of 3 championship series versus the second seeded Lugnuts, the Rangers won game one by the score of 11-2. Once again, Tom Klawitter pitched seven of the nine innings, allowing two runs on six hits with three K’s.

Matt Sanfelippo was 3 for 3 with two runs and three RBI. Mark Holzman had two hits and one RBI. Jose Alba had two hits and four RBI. Designated hitters Bob Kuster and Jack Barron each had two hits.

In championship game two, the Rangers beat the Lugnuts by the score of 25-5 to win the 55+ championship. Matt Sanfelippo pitched six innings for the win, giving up three runs on six hits with four K’s. Offensively, every Ranger collected at least one hit.

DH Marvin Oliver, first baseman Mike Drilling, AH Matt Fredricks, and Tom Klawitter each had three hits. Jack Barron, Mark Holzam, Jose Alba, Bob Kuster, and shortstop Jerry Gambatese each had two hits. Matt Sanfelippo, Manager Mickey Pruefer, AH and 32-year Ranger veteran Terry Teske, and third baseman Marty Buckenberger each collected one hit.
