2024 Pirates Come from Behind and Hold Off Phillies for Chautauqua MSBL Championship

Westfield Auto Body Pirates/Larry’s Cantina Pirates 5, Phillies 3

Chautauqua, NY—After a successful regular season, the Larry’s Cantina and Westfield Auto Body Pirates of the Chautauqua MSBL, began their post season as the #3 seed.

Meeting up with the last seeded Phillies in the Championship game, the Pirates used a big seventh inning to outlast the Phillies, 5-3.

Austin Alonge started on the hill for the Pirates and Nolan Hunt came into the game in relief, earning the win.

Trailing 3-0 in the bottom half of the seventh, Greg Best came around to score on a Max Schrantz double. Nolan Hunt then singled up the middle to score Austin Alonge to make the score 3-2. Hunt would eventually come around to score to tie the game before taking the lead on a Brandon Myers single.

The Pirates earned some insurance in the eighth, scoring off a deep fly ball off the bat of Alex Nusom.

After falling in last year’s championship game, the Pirates capture this year’s championship, going 12-5 overall.
