Colin Moulton drove in four runs on three hits to lead the North County Tigers past San Diego Legend, 14-3 for the North County MSBL 35+ Spring Championship. Moulton singled in the seventh inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the eighth inning, scoring an additional two.
San Diego Legend were the first to get on the board in the third when Parades tripled, scoring three runs. The Tigers flipped the game on its head in the top of the seventh, scoring seven runs on five hits to take an 8-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Ken Bowman that drove in two. The North County Tigers scored six runs on two hits in the top of the eighth inning. Mike Gosling drew a walk, scoring one run, Moulton doubled, scoring two runs, Juan Ortega singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.
Tony Mino earned the win for the Tigers. The reliever surrendered one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one. Alcantar took the loss for the Legend. The starting pitcher went six and one-third innings, allowing five runs on six hits, striking out three and walking two. Randy Tardiff led things off on the mound for the Tigers. The southpaw gave up three hits and three runs over three innings, striking out none and walking three. Gosling tossed three innings of shutout ball for the Tigers in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out four and walking three.
The Tigers piled up 11 hits in the game. Jason Bendorf, Ortega, and Ivan Andrews each collected multiple hits. Gosling led the team with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. Andrews also stole two bases. The Tigers ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game. They also turned one double play in the game.
The Tigers were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Ortega had the most chances in the field with eight. Parades led San Diego Legend with three runs batted in.
