The Long Island Rays, in only their second year as a 50+ team, completed its quest to win it all this 2024 Fall season of the Long Island Midweek MSBL by coming from behind to beat the Oakland A’s 11-7 in the Championship game. The offense was led by Dave Bauer, going 3-3 with six RBI and Eddie Alvarez going 2-2 with two RBI. The pitching was led by the pitching performances of Scott Jivin (W) and Ray Shah (S).
The Rays scored the final seven runs in the game after trailing 7-4 going into the fourth inning to secure the win. Jivin pitched four innings to get the win while Shah came in relief to close things out.
The Long Island Rays finished the regular season with a record of 7-2. Ray Shah was voted the team MVP and led the league in wins (4). Ray finished the season with a 4-1 pitching record with 24 K’s in 33 innings and batted .500 for the season with a 1.306 OPS. George Giuliani led the team in hits (12) and William Rospars led the team in RBIs (12). The Rays pitching staff finished the season with a combined ERA of 3.63.
