‘Kokopellis Claim ‘Back-to-Back’ Title’
The Denver Kokopelli’s finished a perfect season (19-0) by winning their sixth MSBL 25+ National Division season title in a hard-fought 9-5 victory over the Braves. Â This was their second back-to-back title in the past six years.
After spotting the Braves two runs in the first, the Kokopelli’s scored the next six runs. Â The Braves scored three in the top of the seventh only to have Kokopelli’s answer with three in the bottom half. Â Lou Gabel (2 for 3 with a walk, 3 runs, and 1 RBI) and Scott Holstein (2 for 3, a walk, HR, and 3 RBI) led the offense while Alex Dunn pitched another gem, going eight innings with 10 Ks). Â The Kokopelli’s were again managed by Brooks Robinson in their 18th season.
