In the semi-finals, we played the Cubs.  That series also went to game three.  It was an extra-inning battle back and forth. In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Zephyrs were down to our last out down 3-2.  We scored two runs to win 4-3 in the bottom of the eighth inning to advance to play the 1917 White Sox for the Championship.

Six years ago, a new team hit the 60+ Chicago North MSBL. We had our growing pains, and the road wasn’t always easy, but I’m thrilled to announce that the Zephyrs took home their first league championship this month. This results from a total team effort, from veteran leaders to fresh blood, from offense to defense.

Last year’s additions, Joe Capparelli and Tom Malloy were joined by a hardworking rookie class to round out a solid offense and defensive team. All the while, experienced leaders Dan Moss and Larry Burger helped steer us to top-notch pitching and dominating speed on the basepaths. The team came together in the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship, and winning became infectious. Here’s to 2023!

Go Zephyrs!
