Dark Horse 9, Mean Bears 2 (Game three in best-of-three championship series)

The top four teams battled in a best-of-three playoff series in the 18-over Open Division, featuring the Denton Mean Bears, Eastside Phillies, Oak Cliff Pelicans, and The Dark Horse. After the Denton Mean Bears battled past the Oak Cliff Pelicans, and The Dark Horse battled past the Eastside Phillies, it was The Dark Horse, managed by Travis Washmon that ended up taking down the last year’s champion, Denton Mean Bears in the championship best-of-three series.

In game one of the championship series, the Mean Bears won by a score of 2 to 1, to take a 1-0 series lead before The Dark Horse rallied for two straight wins, beating the Mean Bears by a margin of 7 to 1, and then 9 to 2 in the rubber match to claim walnut and bronze.

The Dark Horse finished the season with an 18-6-1 overall record, while the Mean Bears finished with a 19-5-2 overall record. Congratulations to The Dark Horse and Manager, Travis Washmon!
