2023 Pickerington Ducks Secure ‘Back to Back’ Titles in Central Ohio MABL

Pickerington Ducks 7, Westerville Expos 6 (Game two of championship series sweep)

After losing their first playoff game, the Pickerington Ducks won six straight games defeating the Ohio Phillies, Worthington Tigers, and Westerville Expos en route to the 2023 Central Ohio MABL Championship.  The Ducks defeated the Phillies 2-1 in the quarter-finals (3-6, 11-0, 15-2), swept the Tigers in the semi-finals 2-0 (4-1, 5-2), and in the League Championship Series swept the Expos in two (1-0, 7-6 (8 innings).  Strong pitching and timely hitting propelled the Ducks to their second title in as many years.  The Ducks finished the season 26-2 and are an impressive 51-4 over the last two years as back-to-back Central Ohio MABL Champions.
The Westerville Expos made their 2nd appearance in the League Championship Series after outlasting the Blazers in Game Three of their semi-final series. The Expos swept the Ohio Blue Jays 2-0 (7-2, 8-5), and defeated the Blazers 2-1 (1-2, 7-2, 2-1) before being swept in two by the Ducks.  The Expos finished the season 20-8.

The Pickerington Ducks (formerly Dugout Baseball Club) secured back-to-back championships this year. Boasting an overall record of 26-2 this year, the Ducks dominated on both sides of the ball all season.

2022 Dugout Baseball Captures Central Ohio MABL Championship

Across the 21-game regular season, the Ducks plated 206 runs from 238 hits, posting a team average of .390. Leading the very talented lineup were offensive standouts Danny Wisard, Bo Walker, and Robby Sexton.

The Ducks pitching staff was as equally impressive, allowing 25 earned runs over 135.1 innings pitched for an ERA of 1.66. They struck out 185 while only walking 30, giving the Ducks a league-leading WHIP of 0.89!

2021 and 2022 MABL Pitcher of the Year winner, Robby Sexton, was again undefeated this year and led the Ducks on the mound along with Ben Shroyer. The two aces were flat-dominant this season.
