2023 Chesapeake Braves Add Chesapeake MSBL 45+ American Championship to Their Distinguished Resume
Chesapeake MSBL, 45+ Division
Chesapeake Braves 13, Orioles 3 (Game three in best-of-three championship series)
Submitted by Steve Hoffmann and Jeff Pate, Braves co-managers
The Chesapeake Braves captured the Chesapeake MSBL 45+ Championship on 8/22. After dropping the first game in the best-of-three series, the Braves won the next two games versus a solid Orioles team, 14-2 and 13-3 to capture the championship! The Braves finished the regular season 20-2-2 and in first place. Father time waits for no one and players, core to the long-standing success of the Braves rich tradition, moved up to 45 and combined with several outstanding ballplayers to augment the Braves Family to take the title in their first year.
The championship game was safe in the hands of pitcher Josh Molnar’s complete game, 12K performance. The bats came alive in the last two games of the series and the team buckled down and
executed on the field and basepaths to secure the win. This mirrored the Braves’ season, where they battled with several good teams in the league to come back from a few early losses and ties to win 17 straight through the end of the season.
Every single member of the Braves played contributed to their success, stepped up, and stepped in wherever needed. This year was dedicated to long-time Braves manager and leader, Jeff Wolf, who sadly passed away in February. Jeff brought this team together and winning the championship was fulfilling yet bittersweet, but we know he was with us all the time. We are a truly great group of baseball players but an even better group of friends. Go Braves!!!
