Ohio MSBL, 50+ Division

Canton Tigers 16, Crystal Clinic Indians 9

Submitted by Sean Broom, Tigers manager

The Canton Tigers scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and four more in the bottom of the eighth to cap a crazy 16-9 victory over the Crystal Clinic Indians to claim the Ohio MSBL 50 and Over Championship at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium in Canton, Ohio.

The game was a sea-saw affair with Crystal Clinic leading the Tigers 9-7 in the bottom of the seventh. Two runners got on for the Tigers then the rains came. After a two-hour wait, the game was called and resumed two days later with runners at first and second with no one out. The Tigers’ bats exploded. Mark Marlett, Kenny Robbins, Cal Baker, and Adam Kinney had four straight base hits and nine runs later, the Tigers were champs.

Other Tigers playing key roles were Kenny Robbins’ pitching, Brad Myers’ catching, and a stellar infield that is manned by a number of players including Joe Krause, Tom Burkert, Tommy Popp, Mitch Curtin, Kevin Fowler, Tim King, Tom Chaboudy, Rich Anderson, Scott Koenig, Vince Barnes, and Sean Broom.

The outfield is anchored by the center field play of Scott Mizeres and he is joined by Adam Kinney, Mark Marlett, Ken Kibler, and Ken Andrejczyk in the corner spots.

The Tigers finished 14-3 for the season.
