2022 ‘Mighty Coyotes’ Taste Victory Again in the Fort Worth MSBL 40+ Championship
Fort Worth MSBL, 40+ Division
Coyotes 10, Rangers 7
On a perfect night for Texas Baseball the fourth-seeded Coyotes hosted the six-seeded Rangers at Carter Riverside High School just East of downtown Fort Worth for the 2022 FWMSBL 40+ Championship.
With close to 100 fans in attendance, and complete with walkup music and announcers (courtesy of league president Jon Beggerly) fans and players alike could feel the electricity in the air as Justin Pinson took the mound for the Yotes against the “Ageless One”, Kenny Hadaway for a Rangers team that SHOCKED the world by beating the #1 seed Astros for a chance at the Big Dance.
The contest remained tight early on as the Coyotes held a 3-1 lead through three innings. The fourth stanza would prove pivotal, however with the ‘Yotes plating seven runs, exhibiting patience at the plate along with two key hits with runners on base. That cushion was definitely needed as the Ranger bats got hot almost immediately, scoring six unanswered before succumbing to the lights-out pitching of Charles “Thunder” Bolton who wrapped up the game on the hill for the Coyotes allowing no Rangers runs in his last two frames.
Notable performances include Coyotes second-sacker Troy Thompson with a CLUTCH three-run triple in the fourth to break the game open only to be followed by a Doug “Big Puma” Parris three run BOMB (that some say STILL hasn’t landed…)!! “Old #7” (team founder and oldest player) Mike Millsap also contributed with four productive ABs including two hits, a walk, a stolen base, and two runs scored.
It was a GREAT night for the ‘Great Game’, indeed!
