2022 Legends Notch Win to Defeat Tigers for North County (San Diego) 35+ Spring Championship

North County MSBL, 35+ Spring Division

San Diego Legends 13, North County Tigers 6

Submitted by Hector Garcia, Legends manager

We are very, very proud of our accomplishments.  I own the Legends along with my brother Jerry Garcia and we have managed to put a great group of guys together.  With great sacrifice and great expense, we have been able to bring really good players from Tijuana, Mexico.  We also have assembled some really good guys from North County, like Mr. Billy Ferran, who is a 67-year-old guy that can dance around anyone.   He is our steady second baseman.

A lot of people do not realize that these guys get up at 5:00 am to go get in line at the border so that they can come to play with us.  My brother and I really appreciate what these guys must go through and we make sure to always make them feel at home and see that they are always taken care of.

We have a great team that always plays 100 %.  I believe the 35-over league has gotten a lot better, hopefully in part because of the talent we are bringing in.  It looks like every team is getting new players and they are also getting better and better, like us.

We have lost only two games in the last two seasons and we continue to try to get better guys all the time.  My Brother and I are always looking for quality players.  These last playoff games were unbelievable!!!  Ex-major leaguer Mr. Jesse Orosco, who is a good friend of mine and a great Major League retired pitcher, happened to be watching the game.

In our playoff game against the Bulldogs, we were down 9 to 6 in the eighth inning but the other team started celebrating a little too early.  My nephew Jose, who is now 13 years old and a good little player, was also watching the game.  The other team started asking If we had anyone else from Tijuana.  They thought we were done.  That was a big mistake.

Needless to say, we came back and bit the other team.  After the ninth inning, we left them on the field and celebrated our 10 to 9 victory, and went on to the championship game!

In the championship game against the Tigers, our pitcher Francisco Mora had seven strikeouts and also went 4 for 4 with a home run and two runs scored!

Jesse Orosco said to me that those were really good games and he was proud of us.

I want you to know that we love the game and we love everyone playing with us and against us.  I believe that everyone that comes and participates in our league is a very good person.  We love meeting and making new friends and we do business and network with our Baseball brothers. I am very thankful for that.

We will continue to have a great team and have fun every single time we play. We love to win, but even if we lose, we always enjoy the game spending time with our Baseball brothers.
