2022 Cubs Top First-year Braves for 35+ Championship in Terre Haute MSBL

Terre Haute MSBL, 35+ Division

Cubs 6, Braves 1

In Darren Brucken’s 29th year of managing in the Terre Haute MSBL, his Cubs wound up the 2022 season with a 6-1 victory over this year’s runners-up, the Braves. This was the first season in existence for the Braves, and they were a formidable team in their debut season. The Cubs entered the playoffs as the overall top seed, after posting a 7-2 season record. The Braves entered the tournament as the #3 seed and soundly ousted the #2 seed Yankees in the semi-final round held at the stadium at Indiana State University.  The Cubs got by the #4 seed Cardinals in the semis as well, in a rainy contest later that evening.

The Cubs and Braves squared off for the 35+ League championship on September 18. It was a well-played, hard-fought battle. The Cubs were able to outlast the Braves in the end. The Cubs were fueled by an outstanding 9-inning pitching performance by their long-time ace, Eric Atwood, yielding just a single run to the upstart Braves.

Congratulations really belong to the entire league this year, as every single team brought a competitive team to play each week, providing a great atmosphere, and a sense of parody to every game!
