The final game in the best of three championship series started with the Pirates throwing a 1-2-3 punch from Galati, Segala, and Mendez taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The defending champion Westchester Marlins responded with a little offense of their own bringing the whole lineup to counterpunch with six runs in the bottom of the first.

Mark ‘M&M’ Milroy, 2W’s and 5K’s, then settled in and shut down the Pirate’s wrath for three scoreless innings. The Marlins rallied up for eight more runs, making the score 14-2 after four innings.

In the top of the fifth, the Pirates Brooks doubled then DiNozzi singled him in to make the score 14-3. The Marlins added another run in the bottom of the sixth to expand their lead to 15-3.  This battle went the distance with the defending champions retaining their title with the final score of 17-6.

M&M helped his own cause with a 4-5 performance at the plate. The team’s battery pack of M.Carozza and E.Holtz both went 2-4 with one RBI.  Slugger K.Bryant added two doubles with three RBIs.  R.Fernández quietly sparked the offense going 3-4 with four RBI. V. ‘HIT MACHINE’ Sasso hit safely in all 16 games and added two RBI.
