The Mid South Men’s Senior Baseball League finished its post-season tournament on Oct 2nd and 3rd at USA Stadium in Millington, TN.  The Warriors hosted the River Rats on a rainy Saturday evening to play for the chance to advance out of the loser’s bracket to face the Legends in the final on Sunday.

The Warriors started James Wilson who went two innings, followed by Billy Hellums, Jason Redd, and Victor ColeScott Walker led the offense for the River Rats with a 3 for 3 game and two RBI in the first inning.  Mike Muir took the mound for the River Rats and pitched six solid innings, giving up only four runs.  Mike also had two hits and an RBI.

Jeff Randall came in to close the seventh inning and struck out the 1-2-3 Warrior hitters to get the save.  Victor Cole closed for the Warriors and led their offensive attack with a double and a triple.  The River Rats scored three in the first inning, one in the fourth and another in the fifth to squeak out a 5-4 victory.

Sunday was a beautiful sunny day that saw the Legends, the regular season champs, host the River Rats in the championship game.  Cory Pratt took the mound for the Legends and threw a complete game gem allowing only eight hits and four runs.  Drew Hicks, Dave Emerling, and Matt Burgess had two hits each to pace the River Rats offense.

Chip Myers took the mound for the Rats and took the brunt of some really poor defense and an offensive juggernaut led by Cory Williams and Johnny Mosqueda, who had three hits each, and Barry Cummings with three RBI.  The Legends scored seven runs in the first inning and coasted to a 16-4 victory to claim their second straight Mid South MSBL League Championship.
