‘Cannoneers Go Undefeated, Capture ‘Back-to-Back’ 28+ Titles’

The Cannoneers completed their UNDEFEATED 2021 Bux-Mont (PA) MSBL season by topping the Phoenixville Bears, 7-1 on Sunday, September 12th, 2021, closing out a five-week-long double elimination round robin postseason tournament.

Over the course of the regular season, the club went 14-0 and scored 142 total runs while only allowing 16.  Grant Kernaghan and Jared Trout led the pitching staff tallying a 1.09 and 1.23 ERA respectively over the regular season.  Doug Brown fulfilled closer duties throughout the season striking out 10 batters in seven appearances.

On the offensive side, the Cannon Crew proved to be equally impressive with five players finishing in the top 10 in AVG, OPS, and Home Runs.  Jason Mills led the team batting .636 with four homers and a 2.052 OPS.  Long-time Bux-Mont MSBL veteran Andrew “Jet” DeGaetano followed with a .567 AVG while hammering three homers and posting a 1.567 OPS.

General Manager Bryan Clayton who is celebrating the club’s third championship (2018, 2020, and 2021) since coming into the league in 2016 said, “This was more than a talented baseball team, this was an incredible group of guys.”  Clayton explained, “There weren’t any complaints about playing time, we didn’t need to deal with any big egos, each guy was just out there having fun and contributing when they got the opportunity.”  With 19 players on the roster, the Cannoneers still found innings for every player.  “To make the playoff roster, you need to play in half the regular season games and we only had one player that didn’t quality – and that was due to injury.”

The Lansdale Cannoneers +28 team is one of three adult baseball teams sponsored by the Cannoneers Sportsmen’s Club in Lansdale, PA.
