2021 Freedom Tame Tigers for 45+ Division Crown at Inland NW Men’s Baseball League in Washington State

Inland NW Men’s Baseball League, 45+ Division

Spokane Freedom 15, Eastern Tigers 9

Submitted by Kelly Holm

The Spokane Freedom committed two of their three errors in the first inning and fell behind 5-2 to the Eastern Tigers. However, they scored in each of the first five innings to take a 12-8 lead into the fifth inning where runs became scarce. After giving up two runs in the fifth, Charlie Zimmerman threw three straight shutout innings.

Bret Fink came on in relief of Roger Coston and shut the door with four straight scoreless innings, allowing only two hits. After the Freedom added three runs in their half of the ninth to go up 15-8, the Tigers fought back by loading the bases with nobody out. But a fielder’s choice, a fly out to center field that scored one run, and another 6-4 fielder’s choice ended the competitive game.  The win ended a 5-year run for the Eastern Tigers and the Freedom became the first team other than the Tigers to win a title in the Inland NW Men’s Baseball League 45+ division
