‘Flynn Leads Erie-Buffalo to Repeat with Two Jacks’

August 25, 2021 – It was another beautiful night for baseball in Western New York. It was game two of the best of three series with Queen City. The teams had faced off in three of the last four Championship series.  Erie-Buffalo Baseball Club was hoping to win game two of the best of three series and clinch their second title in three years.

In game one of the series, Erie-Buffalo took an early 4-0 lead against veteran Queen City ace Joe DiLeo. In typical Erie-Buffalo pitching and defense were in order. Matt Keating would go the distance for Erie-Buffalo with seven innings pitched, scattering six hits, six strikes outs, and one walk.

Erie-Buffalo’s offense was powered by Eric Flynn with a home run in the fifth inning to help solidify the win. Erie-Buffalo took advantage of several walks and miscues to complete the 7-2 victory.

The teams faced off for game two with Erie-Buffalo one victory from clinching the title. Once again, a dominant pitching performance this time from Chris Newman, who threw seven innings, giving up four hits, striking out seven, and walking one.

Eric Flynn once again, hitting a home run!  Other Erie-Buffalo batters contributing to the game were, Alex Seifert (2-4, 1 run scored), and Kyle Frye (2-3, 1 run scored. Erie-Buffalo went on to win 4-1 and clinch their second title in the 25+ league in two years.

League President Ralph Proulx (MSBL HOF ‘10) would go on to win three Championships in the week. He managed the Erie Buffalo 25+ and 35+ teams to championships and earned a championship in the 45+ division as a player with The Buffalo Nine.
