2021 Dodgers Sweep Sea Dogs in Best of Three Series for 40+ Title at Rhode Island MSBL

Rhode Island MSBL, 40+ Division

Dodgers 6, Seadogs 5 (Game two in best of three series sweep)

Submitted by Frank Ribezzo, Dodgers manager

The Dodgers took on the surging Seadogs team for the 2021 Rhode Island MSBL 40 division championships. The Dodgers, having just defeated a strong Colt 45’s team in the semi-finals, and the Seadogs, having knocked off the very strong Salty Dogs 40 team, squared off for the championship series.

Game one of the finals was an unexpected rout with Dodgers starter Alfredo Valdez throwing five innings of no-hit baseball against the normally outstanding Seadogs lineup. Additionally, Alfredo chipped in five RBI’s on two timely hits helping the Dodgers to a 12-0 win in game one.

The second game of the finals turned into more of a pitcher’s duel with Claudio Rodriguez of the Dodgers and Steve Dunley of the Seadogs, each going the distance in a 6-5 Dodgers win. Strong hitting from the Dodgers Anthony Marano and Ariel Nunez turned out to be the offensive difference in game two leading to the Dodger’s second championship in a row for 2021.
