2021 Blue Jays Crush Bandits for Championship in Los Angeles MSBL
Los Angeles MSBL
So Cal Blue Jays 14, Westlake Bandits 1
Submitted by Vince Woods, Blue Jays manager
The So Cal Blue Jays finished 15-3 in the LAMSBL 2021 Season. Our Championship game against the Westlake Bandits was victorious, winning 14-1. We had the opportunity to play at College of the Canyons Junior College Baseball Field, which was a treat. All season long we had to play on lesser fields, with COVID-19 making it difficult to utilize fields from previous seasons.
The Westlake Bandits were the second-best team in our league this season, and they never knew what hit them in the Championship game!
We came out slugging, scoring six runs without an out. The Blue Jays came ready to play and were led by several players and good pitching.
Key players in the Championship game were Doug Thigpen, Larry Urrutia, Daniel Arruda, and Robert Mendoza. The day was capped off with excellent pitching from starter Eddie Nava, allowing five hits over five innings, and Larry Brown, who finished the last four innings while only allowing one hit.
The Bandits usually play and hit well, but the Jays were on a different mission trying to make a statement on this day. Now it’s time to try and bring the same enthusiasm to the 34th annual MSBL Arizona World Series.
Best of luck to our So Cal Blue Jays family!
