Atlanta Area MSBL, 30+ Division

Redwings Topple Red Sox 7-5, 4-1

Submitted by Jeff Chrismon and Dennis Taylor, Redwings Co-managers

The 2020 Redwings won the 30+ division of the Atlanta Area Mens Senior Baseball League (AAMSBL) by upsetting the top seeded Red Sox in the best of three Championship series at Meadowcreek High School in Norcross, Georgia, by the scores of 1-13, 7-5, and 4-1.

In game 2, Jackson Hood kept the Red Sox hitters in check with five K’s through nine innings to force a game three Sunday finale. In the Championship game with a broken ring finger from Saturday’s first game, Jason West was amazing, getting out of bases loaded jams in the second and third innings, striking out six and pitching a complete game for the win.

Tony Williams led the Redwings hitters, going 5 for 8 (.625), followed by Aaron Elias (.556) and James Meyer (.500). Kevin Robbins and Chris Taylor both had two RBIs.

The Redwings finished the regular season 10-3-1. The defending champion Red Sox finished the regular season 11-1-2, but were unable to overcome stout pitching, outstanding defense, and timely hitting by the Redwings.
