‘Pirates Accumulate Sixth Straight Title’

Submitted by Jimmy Dominey, Pirates manager

Despite the delayed and elongated Fort Worth MSBL season due to the pandemic, the Fort Worth Pirates survived the melee, finishing the regular season second to the powerful Burleson Bulls, who formulated their best season in some years. The Pirates routed the newly-formed White Sox in the playoffs to make it to the title match against the surging LoneStars in the 25+ division. With key hits and solid defense, the Pirates held off the LoneStar comeback in the late innings to secure their ‘sixth straight championship’, 6–4, on a cold night in October.

Through the season, consistent performances by the pitching tandem of Trey Benedict and TR Waszkiewicz led the Pirates to a 0.692 winning ratio. Overcoming a few injuries, the Pirates amassed a league-leading 127 runs while allowing only half that to the opposition.

While COVID threatened the entire season, the FW Pirates powered through adversity to retain their title belt and keep the dynasty alive.
