‘Nationals Notch ‘Back to Back’ Titles’

The 30+ championship game of the San Antonio Men’s Senior Baseball League was played Sunday, Sept 27th in Blanco, Texas and the San Antonio Nationals prevailed over the San Antonio Reds, 14-9.

The Nationals jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning and never trailed throughout the game.  The Reds never gave up, making for a great championship game.

Matt Harrel pitched seven solid innings backed by Andre Del Bosque and Michael Durrel Smith who finished the game in relief to get the win.  Defensively the Nationals where solid with only three errors all game.

Leading hitters for the Nationals were Ben Wonser, Adam Daniels, Matt Harrel and Brannon Fowler, all pounding out two hits. The rest of the lineup all had one base knock, including Lucas Braun, Travis Torres, Joseph Banda, Patrick Harvey, Gullimero Ayala, Michael Smith, Rob (Scooter) Ytuarte and Devin Davis.

The Nationals awarded the 2020 Spring season MVP to catcher Brannon Fowler for his outstanding play throughout the season.

This is the second title for the Nationals in SATXMSBL going ‘Back to Back’!
