The Oak Cliff Pelicans Baseball Club captured the North Texas Amateur Baseball League, Open American League crown this past summer, claiming their seventh NTABL title.

The Pels took on a solid Orioles team, but decided to unleash some offense that simply couldn’t be stopped. In game one of the series, the Pelicans defeated the Orioles by a score of 8 to 2. Logan Burch delivered seven innings of work pitching for the Pelicans, allowing two runs on five hits, while walking four and striking out eight.

All-Star, Adam Humes led the Pelicans offense with a 3-for-4 performance including three RBI. Jake Simpson also highlighted the box score with a 4-for-4 day that included an RBI and one inning of pitching relief work that included a pair of strikeouts. The Pels finished with 13 hits to move into game two.

Facing a win-or-go-home scenario in the second game, the Orioles ended up facing a hurricane in the form of the Pelicans offense. The Pels didn’t even give the Orioles a chance. With their foot fully on the gas offensively in game two, the squad rallied for 16 hits and cruised to a 16 to 1 win to capture the championship outright.

Jayson Rhulman was the winning pitcher, recording six innings of work, allowing one run on four hits, walking one and striking out seven.

Ryne Neimi finished 2-fo-4 with a double, triple, three RBIs and two stolen bases. Adam Humes completed a 4-for-5 performance, adding five RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Jake Simpson also finished 4-for-5 with a double, home run and four RBI.

The Pelicans had 28 total hits in the series sweep to outscore the Orioles, 24 to 3. Pelicans pitching gave up just nine total hits in two games (15 innings). The 17 strikeouts by Pelicans pitchers in those 15 innings were the key to keeping the games no contest. Adam Humes finished the series 7-for-9, with eight RBI and two stolen bases while Jake Simpson completed his day at 8-for-9, with a home run and five RBI. The duo destroyed Orioles pitching, accumulating 15 of the Pelicans 28 hits while generating 13 of the total 24 runs.

Congrats to manager Patty Evans and the Oak Cliff Pelicans on their success during their 2019 Summer NTABL campaign!
