‘Lane Earns Victory on the Hill’

The San Antonio Lonestars completed their “5-Peat” and won the San Antonio MSBL 55 and over National Division Championship for 2018. The Lonestars also won the regular season title as well. The SAMSBL broke the playoffs into “upper” and Lower Divisions this year. The first place SA Lonestars played a best two out of three Championship against the second Place SA Pirates for the Upper Division National Title. The Pirates won the opening game of series 16-12 and the Lonestars won game two 7-5. The SA Lonestars won the “IF” game Championship 19-1, with Glenn Lane getting the win on the hill in the finale. 

 

The 2018 Lonestars were lead on the mound by Glenn Lane, Jack Alberty, Joel Morley and Miguel Rodriquez. The Lonestars Offensive leaders were Keith Thomas, Bill Rector, Santiago Gonzales, Juan Ahumada and Mike “Hammer” Baskerville. The SA Lonestars finished with a 16-4 League record and a combined 28-9 League and Tournament record. Melvin Hayes did the majority of the catching duties for the team again this year. The Lonestars will be heading to the MSBL World Series again this fall. Joel Morley and Bill Rector managed the SA Lonestars in 2018.
