‘Free Agents Sweep Giants for First 50+ Sunday American Title’

(Photos courtesy of Jane Burkitt) After 25 years the Free Agents finally won their first Sunday League Championship by sweeping the Cal Giants in the best of three championship series. In the first game Tim Burkitt was the winning pitcher in a 13-5 victory while game two was a 22-5 championship clinching game with Eric Guimont on the mound.

In the first game we overcame a 4-1 deficit, scoring in every inning except the second, to secure the 13-5 margin.

The second game was scoreless after three innings but then the Free Agents erupted for 11 runs over the next three innings to take control 11-0. We then scored an additional ten runs in the eighth inning to increase the lead to 21-5 and ultimately ended up with a 22-5 championship victory.

We had many players have a remarkable series. They are: Eric Guimont 8-11, five RBI and two doubles; John Daly 6-8, three doubles; Derek Rebensdorf 6-10, four RBI; Bobby Brown 6-9, four RBI; Dave Cosio 4-7, two doubles and Skye Ropke 3-5, two doubles.
