‘Devil Rays Win First 25+ Title in Connecticut MSBL’

After 10 years in the 25+ division of the Connecticut MSBL the Canton Devil Rays captured their first MSBL men’s league title. The combination of veteran leadership, new young talent, clutch performances, and great team chemistry were the ingredients to the championship season.

Down four runs in the semi-finals the Rays scored 14 unanswered runs in the last two innings to advance to the finals against the Kensington Cannons. Game one of the finals was a defensive gem with outstanding pitching and game saving catches. Tied at one in the bottom of the eighth inning the Rays squeezed home the winning run. In game two of the best of three series Canton came back once again. Down by five runs in the top of the seventh Canton took the lead with a timely ten run offensive attack to clinch the championship.

The most common quote between players, “Everyone contributed to this special season. Take any one player off this team and we would not have this championship.”
