2017 Young A’s Team Capture Detroit MSBL 18+ Regular Season Title

By Steven Almany, A’s manager

Despite being relatively new to the league and with a young team made up of 18-23 year olds, the A’s captured the regular season title with a 22-2-2 record. With early player injuries and late arrival from college for some of the players, the A’s got off to a 1-1-1 start but didn’t lose again until the last game of the regular season.

The team is made of a close group of players from the Bloomfield area with most having played Varsity high school together. A few have gone on to play in college but return in the summer for the joy of baseball, summer and long standing friendships.

We had five Detroit All-Stars named to the 2017 team: Todd Weiss, Perry Klemanski, Matt Almany, Conor Wahl and Preston Smith.

The success of this year’s team is already spreading locally and the A’s hope to add even more talent to the team of 2018.
