The Giants scored another run in the top of the eighth to make it 5-2 but in the top of the ninth the wheels came off for the Rockies.  They gave up five runs in the frame to give the Giants a 7-5 lead, leading up to a do-or-die situation for the Rockies.  The Rockies started the bottom of the ninth quietly with a ground out to third.  Then Al Luger was able to single and Robert Stormont followed with a walk to get things ignited for the Rocks.  Tim Burkitt and Bruce Maiman both singled and then Roy VanKempen launched a double over the head of the center fielder to score the winning runs in walk-off fashion.

For the day, Billy Bowerman was 2 for 5 with a double, Al Luger went 3 for 5 including a double, Tim Burkitt chipped in a 2 for 5 day, Bruce Maiman was also 2 for 5 and walk-off hero Roy VanKempen was 3 for 5 with a double and three RBI, including the game winning hit

The Rockies winning pitcher was Tim Burkitt, who threw a complete game, surrendering eight hits, and notching two strikeouts while giving up one walk.
