‘Red Sox Prevail Through Two Extra-inning Contests’

Submitted by Christian Torres, Red Sox Manager

We are very excited about winning the championship this year. This is the Red Sox’s 15thYear in the league and our second championship overall. After a very disappointing last three seasons the Red Sox were blessed with the return of Chris Henderson and combined with improved recruiting efforts from Chris and Christian we were able to assemble a solid team for the 2017 campaign.

The playoffs where an epic battle between the Red Sox and the Braves. In game one we had an outstanding pitching performance by Danny Batista, who gave us a complete game effort alongside catching mate Tim Flemming. The game was tied 2-2 in the bottom of the 10th until Franklyn German hit a walk off home run to end the game.

Game two was just as exciting, as it was a back and forth battle for 10 innings. The Red Sox got an amazing nine innings from starter Aristides Gil. The ninth inning was very intense, as the Braves had the winning run at third base with nobody out in the bottom of the ninth. Gil and the Red Sox defense where able to prevent the run from scoring as we pushed into the 10th inning. With two outs in the top of the 10th the Red Sox scored their fifth run of the game and southpaw Matt Hill was able to close it out for the Championship.

Our season would have not been a possibility without the efforts of everyone involved and a few home runs from Edward Diaz and some dominant pitching from Ayron Adames. Sincere thanks goes out to Red Sox teammates Reid, Scutt, Hawkins, Torres, Hendrick, Fermin, the Fleming Crew, Cabral, Thorne, Hidalgo, Gomez, Chip, Perez, Reynolds and especially to our fans and our official scorekeeper, Mrs. Heather.
