‘Veteran Arconti Picks Up Shutout Championship Win’

Submitted by Patrick Egan, Outlaws manager

After capturing the regular season title, the Outlaws earned a first-round bye. In the second round of the league playoffs the Outlaws fought their way past the Bridgeport Dodgers, claiming the series two games to none. With the win, the Outlaws had the honor of taking on the 2016 league champions, the Westport Cardinals in the league finals.

In game one the Cardinals flew out to a quick lead but the Outlaws battled back and broke the game open late to take game one 8-3.

In game two, fifty-six year old Chris Arconti, who finished the regular season 12-1, pitched seven shutout innings to pick up the win. The Outlaws put up six runs in the first inning behind the bats of Dan Murdoch and Cody Sestito. With the win over the Cardinals, the Newtown Outlaws picked up their first league championship. During the course of the season the Outlaw offense was led by Team MVP Matt Corcoran. Matt led the Outlaws with 28 hits and a .519 batting average. Patrick Egan finished the season with 21 hits including an 11 game hitting streak. Alex Magoulas and Dan Kaminski led the team in home runs with three each.

The Outlaws would like to thank all of their friends and family members for their support each and every Sunday. We also want to convey a big thanks to Mike Henry for helping the team get through the year. Mike played out of position and helped make calls to make sure guys were coming all year long.
