Submitted by Vince Overfelt, Colt 45’s manager

On 9/17/17 the Colt 45’s of the New Mexico MSBL 30+ reached the top of the 2017 post season tourney. With Jerry Macias throwing a complete, 9-strikeout, 6-hit, game, the 45’s defeated one of their main rivals, the Hurricanes, managed by Wayne Sprague. It was a very tight game throughout.

Rodney Tafoya of the Hurricanes struck out 10 in the loss. It was a great pitched game from both sides. The 45’s jumped out to a 4-run lead in the bottom of the second inning when with two outs and two strikes,Carlos Ramos hit a bases clearing triple, which was followed by a line drive single by Joseph Zubia. The next big 45’s blow was a 2-out home run by Shawn Akins in the bottom of the fifth inning. This season could not have been as successful without the energy, attitude and effort of the entire team listed below:

Tom Adams, Sam Adams, Shawn Akins, Doug Ledbetter, Jerry Macias, Yaimond Montero, Billy Nigh, Vince Overfelt, Chris Reeves, Carlos Ramos, Matt Reeder, Robert SantilliEli Springer, Justin Villareal, Sam Wood and Joe Zubia.
